Promoting Startups
DEADLINE: September 16, 2014
Startup Open is a global startup competition
run by GEW Global, the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators who
launch startups.
Criteria
The competition is
open to any startup founded in the last year that has had a “startup moment”
between November 25, 2013 to November 16, 2014.
A startup moment is an event that can be
interpreted as meaning that the company is “open for business.” This may
include when a business is incorporated, when a first sale is completed or when
outside funding is secured.
The first round of
the competition closes on September 16 and judges will narrow down the list of
finalists to the 50 most promising startups. Known as the GEW 50, this first
selection will be announced in October. During GEW, the winner and four
finalists will be announced.
Prizes
- A free stay at the GEW Startup House in the Kansas City Startup Village, a busting innovation hub,
- A mentorship experience from leading global entrepreneurs,
- Free trip to the annual Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC), the largest gathering of members of the global entrepreneurial community.
Next year’s GEC will be held March 16 – 19
in Milan, Italy.
One of GEW’s
strengths is its network. By winning Startup Open, young startups have the
opportunity to join the network and strengthen their own support network.
