The Creative Industry has becoming increasingly important to the economic wellbeing of Nigeria especially since the emergence of Nollywood as one of the biggest contributors to Africa's economy.

Human creativity is the ultimate economic resource and industries of the 21st century will depend increasingly on the generation of knowledge through creativity and innovation.

In the July edition of Dplace tagged "The Creatives", Decipher Solutions in collaboration with The Abuja Literary Society seeks to recognize entrepreneurs and experts from the creative Industry who have made much positive impact through their works in Nigeria and abroad by inviting them to share their stories and art.



The award-winning Creative Lineup will feature: A Dancer, A Photographer, A Poet, A Painter and a Writer
Aimed at inspiring young people with creative talent to explore their gifts and abilities with the ultimate aim of achieving satisfaction and a revenue stream from it, we plan to change the way the creative world is viewed for the better.

ABOUT OUR CREATIVE SPEAKERS:


ZOZA
ZozaIcha is a young woman whose passion is for the arts in its many forms and expressions.
Zoza is a graduate of Industrial from the Ahmadu Bello University graduating top of her class.

Years later, Zoza has bloomed into a creative writer, designer, director; a sculptor, interior decorator and painter who believes that art is the very identity of any people. She is passionate about pulling the art of Nigeria from the occasional back burner, into our everyday lives and indeed our consciousness.

Her dream is to take the raw forms of Nigerian art and make them acceptable and indeed desirable in contemporary Nigeria.Several of her poems and articles have been published.

 In 2007: she won the 1st place prize in the literary category of the ‘Abuja of my dreams’ competition hosted by then minister of the FCT, Nasir El-Rufai;

1n June 2013: she worked with the Turkish Ufuk Dialogue foundation to facilitate the Art for peace project that brought together several painters , offering up their different interpretations of peace in their brush strokes.
 In November 2013: by auctioning pieces of her art, she raised and donated thousands of dollars for hurricane victims in the Philippines

 In December 2013: she hosted the ‘Whispers of the Weave’ art exhibition, featuring music, dance and poetry to accompany never before seen forms of visual display from the Asah-Bara brand. The exhibition hosted over 600 visitors across 4 days.

 Zoza currently works as a producer-Director with the BBC Media Action Nigeria, producing the multiple award- winning radio drama, Story story.

 STORYTELLER
Storyteller has internalized the ability to express himself uniquely through the struggles and challenges he has faced in life. He is a prolific scriptwriter and songwriter, composer and singer. In 2005 and 2006, Storyteller  won The Grand Slam title for performance poetry, (the first person to ever do so back to back).

His Style
The Storyteller is versatile; a perfect blend of poetry, prose, indigenous renditions, jazz, afro, funk and rock and has evolved his own unique and distinctive style, gradually turning into a winning brand. His brand is a fusion of soul-stirring poetry, storytelling, singing, vocal dexterity and expressive movements inspired partly by the likes of Nat King Cole, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Edmond a.k.a Babyface, Sade, Tracy Chapman, Harry Belafonte and a host of others.

His compositions are inspired by the happenings around him and an innate desire to inspire his listeners to become the change that they seek in others.

Stage Performances
  • He directed the play American Visa written by Spencer Okoroafor and produced by the Abuja Literary Society at the British Council and Signature Gallery.

Publications
  • In 2005, he published his journal, ‘Letters from a Monastery; I break my vow of silence’. The journal takes the form of a platonic discourse with a mythical lady named Ifeoma.

Albums
  • In 2007, the Storyteller released his much awaited audio-book titled “Everybody Says I Love You” proudly hosted by the British Council and Abuja Literary Society (ALS).

Presently he works as a cinematographer and entrepreneur 

ABA KING EMMANUEL
Abah Emmanuel has over 10years of active experience in professional photography beginning the journey from Bauchi state in Northern Nigeria
After a year of study in studio and event photography training in Bauchi, Emmanuel went on to Lagos for more.
While still in school, Emmanuel continued to nurture his dream of owning his own photography studio, frequently doing freelance shoots for other studios in order to save up for his own.
Upon graduation, he immediately teamed up with a partner, a young entrepreneurial spirit like himself to establish Oak Studios in the Federal Capital Territory during his service year.
Oak studios has continued to record feats of success, improving staff strength, handling photo shoots for high profile clients across Nigeria and rapidly gaining a profile as a standalone Studio producing highly artistic photographs. Oak studios photographs have been featured in several magazines and online portals, including BellaNaija.
Emmanuel is currently the Managing Partner and director of Oak Studios Nig. Ltd.

JOHNSON ANIEKEME
Johnson Aniekeme is a Dance coach and performer, Founder of Wild Buck and the co-founder of The Bodylanguage Company. Johnson has been a professional dancer for 9 years and majors in Krump, Lyrical Hip-hop as well as Modern Jazz and Salsa dance styles.
Awards / Achievements:
  • Coached Tender Years School, Abuja for the ‘Abuja Inter-School performing Arts Competition’, emerged 1st. – 2014
  • Coached Grange School, Lagos (Junior and Senior) for the ‘Divach Dance Competition – 2008, emerged 1st and 2nd place respectively.
  • 1st place, Brand-Ini-X Dance Competition in Calabar and Lagos (Participant) – 2005 and 2006
  • 1st place, Solo Category, On Da Verge Dance Competition, Calabar (Participant) – 2005
