Meeting this young man for the first time, the first thing to most likely strike you will be his quiet and unassuming character. He seems almost shy, until you ask him about his company BOX OFFICE and
then the transformation is awesome. His passion for his work is pure and clear and he is ruled
by possibilities.
We wanted to share his story
with you, so a few weeks ago we had an interview with him. Here are the
excerpts...
Dear reader, meet our Super Solver of the week: Doyin Adewola, Social Entrepreneur,
Innovative and Independent thinker.
Decipher: Who is Doyin Adewola?
Doyin: Hi Zainab, its a great
privilege to be on your blog. Thanks so much!
I am a 31 year old proud
Nigerian, Civil Engineer by training, Founder and CEO of Box Office Business
Incubator. I have a passion for
Entrepreneurship and business development and I have always sought ways to
express my talent in the Nigerian market.
Decipher: How did you start Box
Office?
Doyin: I needed a corporate and
functional office space for a small business I had started few years back,
operating in my home. My plan was to ask a friend
to allow me put a small table and chair in a corner in his office to operate
from.
While fine tuning my thoughts
before approaching my friend, I imagined how many entrepreneurs would need the
same solution and immediately I decided to create a platform where small
businesses would share almost all office facilities and services to reduce
their business overheads by over 400%.
Now, in Box Office, our
clients share office space with their personal Box Office, air conditioning
system, conference room, power supply, internet connectivity, post office box,
cleaning services, front desk/reception services, administrative assistants,
waiting rooms and so on.
Decipher: What is box Office?
Doyin: Box Office is a product of
Rock & Rule Nig. Ltd. and our vision is to build Nigeria's biggest and most
productive Business Incubation Centre.
Box Office simply mean Office
in a Box. It incubates small innovative
businesses by providing cost effective, fully serviced and furnished office
spaces with business development and advisory services.
Decipher: How has box office grown?
Doyin: In 12 months of business
operation, Box Office has employed 6 staff including myself, secured 23
innovative small businesses who are currently being incubated in our centre in
Wuse II Abuja, partnered with Government Agencies like Abuja Enterprise Agency,
organized four strategic business development training for more than 150 small
business owners and we are still growing.
Decipher: What advice do you have
for young and aspiring entrepreneurs in Nigeria?
Doyin:
1. Put God first in all you
do because life is spiritual, so also is business.
2. Entrepreneurs all
over the world hinge on the support of family and friends so carry your family
along and keep them close.
3. Start your business with
people who understand your vision and not with employees. Employees don't
always see the big picture.
4. Business is tough in
Nigeria but you have to keep at it. My first client came by 6:30pm after three
months of business operation. Perseverance pays!
